WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
This 3-day workshop promotes health and fitness though the art of movement and hula. Instruction will take place at the studio of Kumu Hula Kiwala`o at Halau Ulu Lehua I `Ola`a Located on the slopes of Mauna Loa. The retreat site is 30-minutes from Kilauea Volcano, the home of Pele the fire goddess, and 20-minutes from Hilo Town.
WHAT TO EXPECT?
Enjoy learning hula exercises and ancient dances that stretch and strengthen the body and mind. Increase your flexibility while experiencing the healing energy of a good hula workout.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN!
Add pleasure and health to your vacation as you learn the beautiful art of hula and Hawaiian culture. Practice chanting techniques which focus on the HA (the breath) using deep breathing exercises that promote good health and relaxation. Learn how to Pa’i Ka Ipu (rhythms on the gourd drum). Hawaiian language and lei making will be shared.
Learn about Hawaiian Lomi-Lomi -(massage) an ancient healing art as you integrate body, mind and spirit connections.
EXERCISE:
Exercises target calves, thighs, hips, and arms. Hula cardio workout facilitates weight loss and helps to reshape and tone the body. Posture improves. Energy level increases!
